This unique 2008 Merlot reflects not only the terrior of Paso Robles but also the card of the gentle hands. Sleek as a panther, supple as chocolate mousse and sturdy as the keel of a Viking vessel, this is a stunner. Aromas of fudge and berries syncopate with iris and espresso. The wine drapes over the palate with a juicy seduction, a rondo of cinnamon, licorice, and Himalayan blackberries. Textural, well-balanced, the textbook smoothness will carry well into a special evening as well as through 8-10 years of careful cellaring.

Picked up a bottle as a Christmas gift for me at wine tasting display by the vintner in Costco (Atlanta). Had I known it was sold out – or soon to be-, I would have purchased a case or two. I am not a fan of merlot but this was an absolute stunner. As the vintner assured me, this merlot was more akin to a zin but the velvety texture and impeccable balance that made me a firm believer. This definitely was/is one of the best wines I have had the pleasure of drinking in the past 5 years! Looking forward to the next generation…..
